For Families

Support, Education, and Guidance — Even Before Treatment

Loving someone who is struggling with mental health or substance use can feel confusing, urgent, and isolating. Many families come to Terra before they know what the “right” next step is.

This page is here to offer support, education, and practical resources — whether or not treatment is the immediate answer.

You don’t have to do this alone.

Weekly Virtual Family Support Group

Fridays at 12:00 PM PT

We offer a free, virtual support group for families and loved ones, facilitated by experienced clinicians.

This group is designed to:

  • Provide education about mental health and substance use
  • Help families understand boundaries and supportive roles
  • Reduce isolation and shame
  • Offer a calm, guided space to ask questions and connect with others

You do not need to have a loved one in treatment at Terra to attend.

What to expect

  • 60-minute virtual group
  • Open to parents, partners, and chosen supports
  • Educational and supportive (not group therapy)
  • Confidential and judgment-free
How to Support Someone You Love

When someone is struggling, it’s natural to want to help — and just as easy to accidentally make things harder.

We’re creating a practical, clinician-informed guide to help families understand:

  • What’s helpful (and what often backfires)
  • How to support without rescuing or controlling
  • How to set boundaries without guilt
  • How to communicate with care teams
  • How to take care of yourself in the process

If You’re Unsure What to Do Next

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure whether treatment is the right step right now, our team is available to talk.

You don’t need to be in crisis to reach out. You don’t need to have all the answers.

A conversation, not a commitment.
