Frequently Asked Questions
We know starting care, or helping someone start care, comes with a lot of questions. Below are answers to the ones we hear most often. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, our team is always available to talk.
Getting Started
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We work with many major insurance plans and can help verify benefits quickly. Our team will walk you through options clearly and transparently.
How do I know if Terra is the right fit?
If you’re looking for thoughtful, relational care with clear support and guidance, Terra may be a good fit. We’ll take time to understand your needs and recommend what’s truly appropriate, even if that means another level of care.
How quickly can someone be admitted?
In many cases, admissions can happen quickly — sometimes the same day — once clinical and financial fit are confirmed. We prioritize timely, smooth transitions guided by clinical judgment.
What levels of care do you offer?
Terra provides residential, PHP, IOP, and virtual services, depending on clinical need and readiness.
Do you treat mental health, substance use, or both?
Both. We specialize in integrated care for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions.
Care & Clinical Approach
What makes Terra different from other programs?
We combine relational, integrated clinical care with clear structure and follow-through. Treatment at Terra supports nervous system regulation, practical life skills, and measurable progress, so care translates beyond the program and into real life.
How involved are families or support systems?
When clinically appropriate, families and chosen supports are meaningfully involved through education, communication, and structured collaboration.
What does “relational and systems-based care” mean?
Relational and systems-based care means we don’t treat symptoms in isolation. We look at how mental health, substance use, relationships, routines, environment, and stressors interact, and we design treatment that addresses the whole system, not just the individual. Care includes therapy, skill-building, structured routines, and support for the relationships and environments clients return to, so progress holds outside of treatment.
Who provides treatment?
Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of licensed clinicians, medical providers, and experienced operators working together.
How do you measure progress and outcomes?
We use regular check-ins, validated clinical measures, and ongoing clinical observation to understand how someone is actually doing, not just how things look on paper. Progress is tracked before admission, throughout treatment, and after discharge so care can be adjusted in real time and support continues beyond the program.
Logistics & Practicalities
What does a typical day look like?
Days are structured and balanced, with a mix of therapy, skill-building, connection, and restorative time. When needed, care may also include psychiatric and medical support, nervous system regulation, and experiential practices. Each day is tailored to the level of care and designed to help clients feel steadier, more capable, and better able to engage in daily life.
Can clients work or attend school while in treatment?
Yes, in PHP, IOP, and virtual programs when clinically appropriate. We help clients integrate treatment with real life.
What happens after treatment ends?
Discharge planning begins early, with a focus on continuity of care and strong aftercare support. We coordinate next steps, connect clients with ongoing providers, and continue progress check-ins and alumni support to help care carry forward.
How do you coordinate with outpatient providers?
We collaborate closely, respect existing relationships, and communicate clearly to ensure aligned care.
