Our Story

Healing Happens in Relationship. Terra Behavioral Health was built on a simple but often forgotten truth: People heal in relationship.

Not in isolation. Not through checklists alone. And not in systems that prioritize speed over connection.

Terra exists to offer care that feels steady, personal, and grounded during some of the hardest moments in a person’s life. Care that is both deeply human and clinically sound, delivered within systems designed to support healing, not disrupt it.

The Origin of Terra

Terra didn’t begin as a business idea. It began as a shared frustration, and a shared conviction.

Our founders have spent decades inside behavioral healthcare, sitting with patients and families, leading clinical teams, and building programs across multiple levels of care. Again and again, we saw the same pattern: people did best when care felt relational, coordinated, and consistent, and struggled when systems became fragmented or impersonal.

Andie Hollowell, Terra’s Founder and CEO, is a clinician by training and an operator by experience. Over her career, she has helped build and scale high-growth behavioral health organizations, overseeing clinical strategy, operations, and growth. She saw firsthand how outcomes were strongest when care centered on relationship and weakest when systems forced speed over substance.

Barry Karlin and Mark Benham bring decades of experience building, scaling, and governing some of the most respected behavioral health platforms in the country. They’ve seen what happens when growth is thoughtfully governed, and what happens when it isn’t.

Together, we asked a simple question:

What would behavioral healthcare look like if it were built from the ground up to protect relationship, measure what matters, and grow without losing its soul?
Terra is our answer.

Why Terra Was Built

Behavioral healthcare is at a turning point.

Demand has never been higher. Acuity has never been more complex. And too many people still struggle to find care that feels coordinated, personal, and steady when they need it most.

At the same time, clinicians are burning out inside systems that ask them to move faster, document more, and connect less.

Terra was built to change that.

We believe it’s possible to create a system of care that is:

  • Deeply relational, not transactional
  • Evidence-based, without losing humanity
  • Outcomes-driven, without reducing people to numbers
  • Built to last, without sacrificing clinical integrity

This belief isn’t theoretical. It’s informed by years of experience seeing what truly supports healing, and what quietly undermines it.

Built by Clinicians. Guided by Experience.

Terra is led by people who understand both the clinical realities of care and the responsibility of building systems that work.

Our leadership team brings:

  • Deep clinical training and systems thinking
  • Experience scaling programs responsibly
  • Longstanding relationships with payors and regulators
  • A shared belief that clinical excellence and operational discipline must move together

For patients and families, this experience shows up as care that feels organized, intentional, and calm, not chaotic or reactive.

A Care Model Designed for Real Life

At the center of Terra is our Relational Systems Model of Care.

We integrate:

  • Evidence-based psychotherapy
  • Psychiatry and medical oversight
  • Nervous system regulation and daily grounding practices
  • Family and support-system involvement
  • Transparent, measurement-based outcomes tracking

What makes Terra different isn’t just what we offer. It’s how these elements are woven together.

The therapeutic relationship is actively supported and measured. Families and chosen supports are involved in ways that feel safe and appropriate. And care is delivered across a connected continuum so people aren’t left to navigate recovery on their own.

This is not one-size-fits-all treatment. It’s coordinated care designed to meet people where they are.

Designed to Grow Without Losing What Matters

Terra was built with intention from the start.

Our programs, training, and clinical standards are designed to be consistent across locations, so care doesn’t change simply because a program grows.

For the people we serve, this means predictability and trust: knowing what to expect, who is involved, and that the quality of care remains steady over time.

Growth should strengthen what works, not dilute it.

Proof, Not Promises

We believe trust is built through transparency.

Terra is committed to:

  • Measuring outcomes that matter
  • Using real-time feedback to guide care
  • Continuously improving how we serve patients and families

Data is never used to replace human judgment. It’s used to support it.

The Terra Commitment

We are here to show that behavioral healthcare can be:

Clinically excellent, relationally grounded, thoughtfully built, and deeply human.

The future of care isn’t just about more programs. It’s about better systems.

Systems that honor how healing actually happens.
Systems that support the people delivering care.
Systems that help people feel safe, seen, and supported as they move forward.

That system is Terra.
